Concluding Remarks

Oldermar’s coffee farm provides a quintessential example of sustainable and organic farming practices, and serves as a great model for others to follow. While it’s true that there is no definitive right or wrong way to farm, the practices that are being put in place by Oldemar and many others in Costa Rica are undeniably better for local ecosystems, local farmers, consumers, and the environment as a whole. Oldemar is just one of the many farmers in the country who are doing their part to help Costa Rica reach its goal of becoming carbon-neutral in the next 10 years, and Costa Rica as a country provides great example of sustainability done well. Because of Oldemar, we now have a much greater understanding and appreciation for just how much work goes into making a farm sustainable and organic. The rest of the world has a lot to learn from him.
