Treatments

When objects are sent to the Conservation lab for treatment, they are evaluated individually for type of treatment needed.

Our conservators follow the AIC Code of Ethics when approaching treatment of objects.

Some treatments are more invasive than others, so it is important that treatment is done carefully and with documentation. Additionally, treatment should be reversible whenever possible.

Treatments can include:

  • Mending
  • Washing
  • Adhesive Removal
  • Flattening
  • Humidification
  • Surface Cleaning
  • Mold Remediation
  • In-painting
  • and more!
