During Patrick von Schaumburg’s senior year he began to work at the Poultry Research Farm at the University of Illinois. He gained valuable hands-on experience working and taking care of animals. Post-graduation, he continued to work full-time at the farm, while his wife finished up her undergraduate degree. It was during this time, that he began assisting with nutrition trials and rediscovered his love for education. He was fortunate enough to be taken on as a graduate student under Dr. Carl Parsons. Following his M. S., he was accepted as a Ph.D. candidate with Dr. Maria R.C. de Godoy. He plans on using his comparative monogastric nutrition degrees to improve the nutrition industry or take his talents to academia.
