Thank you to everyone who turned out for our second annual safety week! Thank you in particular to Stephanie Hess, Brian Meschewski, Irv Potts, and Kali Serrano for giving great seminars, Jeremy Leevey of Urbana Fire for letting us put out some fires, and finally our Fisher and Kimberly Clark vendors for providing some goodies!

Thanks Jeremy Leevey of the Urbana Fire Department for leading live fire extinguisher training at the DCGSAC/JST barbecue this afternoon! We had a great turnout and look forward to next year!

Today is the last day of Safety Week 2018! There will be a live review of fire extinguisher use with the Urbana Fire Department starting at 4:30—come and put out a fire! Then grab some grilled goodies from DCGSAC at 5:00 to celebrate the absence of undergraduates and the coming summer months!

Safety week officially kicks off today with DCGSAC’s Suggest and Digest going on RIGHT NOW in the CLSL-A atrium until 12:00! The fun continues with a presentation from DRS about the disposal of chemical waste in RAL 116 from 1:00-2:00. DRS is also willing to answer any questions you may have about who they are as an organization. There are lots more events to go this week too—see below for what’s coming up:

Come join the Chemistry Joint Safety Team and DCGSAC as we host the the second annual Safety Awareness Week from May 14^th-18th. This initiative is devoted to promoting a more positive mindset towards safe laboratory practices throughout the department!
