Mia Adams is a graduate student working on finishing a masters in African Studies and starting another in Library and Information Science. Her previous research for African Studies was focused on Gender Equity and Education in East Africa. Her current research for Library and Information Science studies and assesses the information needs of East African immigrants living in the United States, and investigates outreach opportunities for the homeless at public libraries. She is studying Swahili so that, with her research in Tanzania, she can develop lasting horizontal relationships with local individuals and institutions, and in the United States, she can better communicate with East African immigrants in the public library setting.
