Christina Horton is a graduate student in Musicology. Her current research focuses on the teaching of Balinese gamelan (a type of music ensemble from Bali, Indonesia) in the United States, specifically within higher education institutions. She also has an interest in studying children’s gamelans both in Bali and the United States. Christina is studying Indonesian to improve her communication and archival skills necessary for her research and to better understand musical and cultural practices connected with gamelan. Currently, she is an active member of both the student and community gamelans here on campus.
