We believe it is important to go beyond personal healing strategies to include a community in the healing process. We created a framework that focused on cultural behaviors, specifically storytelling and resistance.
There are three main components to the community healing framework
- Justice – a moral ideal and a guiding principle
- Storytelling and Resistance – cultural behaviors
- Three Psychological Dimensions – connectedness, collective memory, and critical consciousness
We believe that the community healing framework may be incorporated into what communities are already doing or may want to do to promote community healing. The framework can be used to address pressing community concerns, like gun violence, and facilitate community healing.
