Initial Informational Page

Hello Brainhack@Illinois Registrants!!!!

Thanks for registering to attend Brainhack@Illinois. We are all very excited about this opportunity to hack together, meet fellow open science/neuroscience enthusiasts, grow new collaborations, and learn about strategies for getting the most out of our data. As the event approaches, we want to provide you some important information.

BEFORE ARRIVING ON CAMPUS – Please take a look at the following information.

USE THE WEBSITE TO GET LINKS TO INFORMATION

Our local event website is: https://publish.illinois.edu/brainhack2017/

We will be adding links to information throughout the event. Also, the calendar is accessible there.

JOIN OUR SLACK TEAM FOR THE EVENT

The slack channel will be the way to communicate with other attendees during the conference and will also be the way to ask questions of the broadcasted talks. We have a slack channel just for our site: #bhg17-illinois that you can also join once you are on slack. On our site slack, consider sharing your project ideas prior to the event so that others can start thinking about how to contribute to them. Also, this will be a great opportunity to introduce yourself to your fellow brainhackers. The invite to the slack channel is here:

https://brainhack-slack-invite.herokuapp.com/

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE

A Brainhack is a dynamic conference and the schedule may change. For the most up-to-date schedule please see:

COME PREPARED TO SHARE YOUR PROJECT AND INTERESTS

An initial task is to form groups and get a good idea about the background and interests of the attendees. We would ask that you would come prepared to present a short, 2-3 minute overview of your research interests, project idea, and what you hope to get out of the Brainhack. If you need to use slides, that will be fine, but it will move along quickly if you can just speak at this initial session. After groups are formed, there will be more opportunities to present your work, progress, and outcomes of the Brainhack.

LUNCH LOGISTICS

Coffee breaks and lunch will be provided.

DATA ACCESS

We will have some data from the Human Connection Project available for peple that do not have a project or data already in mind.
