Thank you so much for being apart of this Spring’s Bicycle Census! April 20, 2016, is going to be a success because of your efforts. This information is collected by volunteers but it is immediately used by staff on campus to make smarter and wiser choices for bicycle infrastructure and policy.

What is “PPSB”?
Physical Plant Services Building. This is the only building a Kirby and Oak St. in Champaign. This is a Saturday training so all doors will be locked except the door on the South Entrance. There is some car parking and bicycle parking. All other trainings with be at the Main Library during the week.
When do we get Block Assignments?
We are working or little tails off on this! We will have the Block Assignments a week in advance. Thank you to all who put in a request and if you have special accommodations (a class immediately after, for instance). Everybody volunteering is busy but is finding time to help because of our compassion for the bicycle future on campus and in Champaign-Urbana area.
I have attended this event before. Do I need to go through training again?
No! But we STRONGLY encourage coming to the Union for troubleshooting and to pick up paper maps!
Will we get to see the results of the count?
We will start processing the information as soon as we get it. This might take some time as currently the Bicycle Census is all volunteer. The current plan is to create an information graphic based on the information collected on this day. Who are you?
The Bicycle Census is run by volunteers. Some of the volunteers are at the University of Illinois and some just members of Champaign County Bikes. Lily Wilcock is the new Active Transportation Coordinator at the University of Illinois. James Whitacre is a Geographic Information Systems Specialist at the University of Illinois. Leo Covis is a research assistant at the University of Illinois. Jeff Yockey is the President of Champaign County Bikes. All the above people are members of Champaign County Bikes and members of other community groups around the area as well.
