Our Young Artists are usually graduate or undergraduate students training for careers as professional musicians (singers and/or educators with significant vocal experience). They participate in daily coachings and also perform in a recital of Baroque vocal works at the end of the week. Laura Heimes and David Newman, exceptional teacher/performers who regularly collaborate with the finest Baroque orchestras and festivals in America, serve as directors of the Young Artist Track.

Audition requirements

Singers interested in being considered for the YA Track should send a current resume and two or three recent audio or video clips demonstrating their singing and artistry (please submit your materials electronically to amegill@illinois.edu). These should be contrasting in character, and at least one must be from the Baroque era.
