Prof. Mehta received his B.Tech. from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Mumbai and his Ph.D. from Texas A&M University. After his postdoctoral training at The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, Prof. Mehta joined the University of Illinois faculty in Fall 2019. He is a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. He is affiliated with the Department of Bioengineering and the Department of Biochemistry. He is a member of the Cancer Center at Illinois. Prof. Mehta is a team leader and the chair of the executive committee of the NSF Science and Technology Center for Quantitative Cell biology. He is the Associate Director of the NIH CBI training program at UIUC. He also serves on the Scientific Advisory Board of biotech companies. His research interests are in the areas of synthetic biology and chemical biology.
