Goals and Objectives for the New Year

January 1, 2018 marked a new phase of the project, which is set to last until December 2020. To get things started, we reviewed the main goals and objectives of the project, keeping in mind that the ultimate products of this research will benefit fisheries managers.

The three main objectives guiding this research are:

  1. Quantify the effects of psychological processes on angler behaviors relevant to the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS).
  2. Determine the effects of psychological processes on preferences for institutional factors.
  3. Understand anglers’ trade-offs based on the stated choices of anglers across contrasting ecological
    conditions in the Great Lakes.

In this first stage, we are planning to design a questionnaire, develop sampling protocol, and perform pilot testing of the survey. We are also looking forward to engaging with the Lake Committees of each of the five States where sampling will take place.
