Rules:
See last year’s rules above as an example. However, one major rule change is that you are now permitted to bring teams of 2, 3 or 4 student advocates. Hofstra will provide you the expert and lay witness.
There are no housekeeping and no motions in limine. Above are last years housekeeping rules, if you wish to ask about adding others, please do so after the release of the fact pattern.
As a reminder, each school must be accompanied by a non-student coach.
Because there are four preliminary rounds, Hofstra will do their best to provide as many evaluators per round. However, they will not guarantee 3 scoring judges per round. They will guarantee for rounds 3 and 4, which are power matched (1 v 2, etc.) that those teams in contention for a break will have at least 3 evaluators.
Fact Pattern:
The fact pattern will be released by Labor Day. There are two types of clarification questions that may submit. Every school is permitted one “discovery question.” That question could be asked to one of the two lay witnesses – that question will be answered. You may also ask clarification questions, which may be answered, or may be determined to be a point of advocacy. All questions are due by 9/18 at 10am. Questions will be answered by 9/22.
