Set up a Google Tag Manager Account

  1. Select “Create Account.”
  2. Enter the name of the account. Use a single GTM account per domain. Ex: “College of XYZ.”
  3. Enter the name of the container. This is typically the site url. Ex: “www.collegeofxyz.edu.”
    Select the appropriate platform
    Select “Create.”
  4. Select “Yes” to agree to terms.
  5. You will see a window with the container code snippets. Your development team can add these manually. There are also instructions for Drupal and WordPress integrations for users with site administrator access.
  6. Once you click on “OK,” you will be directed to the GTM dashboard. The GTM container ID is located to the left of the “Preview” button, and starts with prefix “GTM-.”
