Developing a theory takes keen knowledge—challenging the entire scientific community takes raw determination. Alfred Wegener is predominantly known for pioneering the Theory of Continental Drift and essentially, being the father of plate tectonics. Known as a man of intelligence and tenacity, his Theory of Continental Drift questioned scientists from every field including geology, geophysics, zoogeography, and paleontology. Although these scientists believed the theory to be preposterous, Wegener remained steadfast and went on to revolutionize the way the Earth is viewed.
