Accessible Illinois

Access Urbana-Champaign is a collective effort from individuals at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Dr. Burke spearheaded the development of Access Urbana-Champaign after learning about the Access Nashville project created at the Vanderbilt University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.

Undergraduate and graduate students in the Department of Special Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign review the accessibility of restaurants in Urbana-Champaign. By learning about accessibility in the area, the students develop a heightened awareness of the importance of accessibility.

Student interns from the ATLAS (Applied Technologies for Learning in the Arts and Sciences) Internship Program developed the website for Access Urbana-Champaign. As we receive new accessibility information annually, the website will continue to be updated to provide current information about restaurants in the area.
