Objective methods to diagnose tinnitus
Research is funded by the Rainwater Charitable Foundation and approved by the IRB at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
This research study is seeking participants to develop and validate new methods for objectively diagnosing tinnitus, also known as “ringing in the ears.” The goal of this study is to use brain wave recording to distinguish those who have tinnitus from those who do not.
The study consists of three parts: a screening phone call/survey, a hearing test and a brain activity recording. You will be paid for participation (upto $80) and reimbursed for parking.
If interested, please call 217-333-7561 or e-mail at tinnitus@illinois.edu.
Misophonia related study
An Inter-Disciplinary Study Characterizing Misophonia Across Nations and Across the Lifespan”, led by Drs. Howard Berenbaum and Fatima Husain at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and funded by the Misophonia Research Fund, is a research project applying an inter-disciplinary approach to explore similarities and differences in misophonia across countries (in three different continents) and across the lifespan. Building on a collaboration between psychology/psychiatry and audiology, this project will focus on the following two specific objectives:
1: Cross-National comparison of the symptoms of misophonia and what they are associated with across culture
2: Comparison of the symptoms of misophonia and what they are associated with across the lifespan
