MATH487/ECE493: Advanced Engineering Mathematics

The course deals with several mathematical topics important in modern engineering. Weekly plan outlines the syllabus; class notes will contain pointers and exercises.

We will use the preliminary notes by J. D’Angelo as an underlying text, with some additional online resources. No textbook purchases will be necessary.

The class meets 10:00-10:50am, Monday-Wednesday-Friday, in Altgelt Hall 241. Office hours are Wednesdays, 11:15-12:00pm, in Altgeld Hall 302.

There will be four homework assignments, two midterms (October 5, November 7) and a final exam.

The total score is .25 HW+.3 Midterms+.45 Final, all scaled to 100.

For students registered for four credits, a small computational project will be assigned.
