ASCE T&DI GSO general meeting

Our spring semester first general meeting is on Thursday January 28, 2016 at 5:30 PM. in Newmark Room 2310.

We would like to have a brief meeting to share some of our upcoming Spring events, including the Spring Kent Seminar series, a bowling social, and a tour of the Caterpillar Museum in Peoria. Please join us!

Abbott Power Plant tour

Abbott Power Plant on campus is having an open house this Friday ( November, 6th) at 2:00 P.M.. They will be giving a 45 min tour of the facilities featuring an up-close look at the gas turbines, history wall, emission control technologies, boilers, and steam tunnels. There will be refreshments and an opportunity to interact with staff.

Meet n Greet series

Professor Ceylan is from Iowa State University where he is the director of the Institute of Transportation’s Program for Sustainable Pavement Engineering and Research (PROSPER). Professor Ceylan will be speaking on the Implementation and local calibration of mechanistic-based pavement design in Iowa.” during the Kent seminar series on Thursday October, 29, 2015. Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.

Kent seminar

Dynatest Consulting Inc. is the world’s leading commercial developer of the falling weight deflectometer technology, which is used to measure pavement structural properties. Kurt Keifer (Senior Vice President) and Phil Donovan (Senior Engineering) will be speaking on Thursday, October, 22 about A Novel Approach to Accelerated Pavement Testing Using FWD” Pizza and soft drinks will be provided.

There will also be a demonstration of their FWD technology in the Crane Bay from 2:00-3:00pm.
