March 2021 Workshops!

We are Excited to announce two new workshops in the Spring 2021 semester. The sessions will all be hosted by T&DI graduate students who will be sharing basic concepts of the topics as well as applications that they have found useful in their research. The topics to be covered include the following:

Advance LaTeX workshop:

From the success of our previous introductory LaTeX workshop, we are hosting a second part on March 18, 2021, where more advanced material will be covered regarding journal preparation, creating new commands, and integrating executable codes, organizing references, and more!

As before, we are asking those interested to sign up in advance by filling out this form, so we can send you the specific information closer to the date. Feel free to share the flyer below summarizing all information related to the workshop.

Python Workshops:

The python workshop will be taught by Dr. Sushobhan Sen, who has taught similar and very successful workshops in previous years. This year, the workshop will be divided into two sessions:

The first session will be held on Match 22, 2021, and will be covering the fundamentals of python. This session will NOT require any prior programming experience as it is meant to be truly introductory.

The second workshop will be held on March 24, 2021, and will be focused on advanced material. The second session will introduce useful libraries such as numpy, scipy, pandas, and matplotlib and demonstrate how to use them in research applications. The focus will be on using Python to solve some typical problems and so, prior experience in using basic Python or participation in the first session is required.

Both sessions will use the Anaconda Python distribution (https://www.anaconda.com/distribution/), which participants should install on their computers beforehand.

To sign up for either of the workshops, please fill out this form so we can send you the specific zoom meeting information closer to the date. As always, feel free to share the flyer of the event with anyone you think may be interested.
