Anne Marie Kuhny

Dr. Anne Marie Kuhny graduated in May 2018 with her Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature.  She also completed her Master of Music in Piano Pedagogy, Master of Music in Piano Performance and Literature, BMUS in Piano Performance and BMUS in Music History.  All of her degrees are from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

​During her university piano studies, Anne Marie was a student of Dr. Ian Hobson at University of Illinois.  Previously, she has studied with the late Dr. Karen Shaw of Indiana University as well as with the late Mr. John Reglin of Chicago.  She started her piano education in the Wheaton Pre-College Program while still three years old.  Outside of school, Anne Marie has had a wide variety of musical experiences.  Her love for music festivals has led to her attendance of the University of Illinois Summer Piano Institute, CCM Prague International Piano Masterclasses, Amalfi Coast Music and Arts Festival and the Indiana University Piano Academy.  She has been chosen for multiple master classes both at home and abroad, and has successfully competed across the Midwest.

Currently, Anne Marie serves is the Artistic Director and Piano Educator at DuPage Musical Arts Academy in Wheaton, IL.  She has students of all levels, beginner to advanced.  She has also been the coordinator of the University of Illinois Summer Piano Institute for several years.  When not teaching, Anne Marie also enjoys donating her time to work with and help young musicians.  She currently serves as a member of the West Suburban Illinois MTNA chapter as their Secretary and Vice President for History and Technology.  She is also the Coordinator for their yearly Joint Workshop.  Dr. Kuhny also serves as a member of the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association of MTNA as the Coordinator of their Sonata-Sonatina Festival.

Most recently, Dr. Kuhny has been the Chair for the ISMTA North Piano Competition as well as the Chair for the CAMTA Sonata-Sonatina Festival and Coordinator for various workshops for both teachers and students.  She also serves as the Secretary for her local chapter of ISMTA after completing her term as Vice President and Historian.

Additionally, she has organized student recitals and conducted masterclasses.  In previous years, Dr. Kuhny spent time working with the University of Illinois during her studies.  She has held an internship with their Piano Laboratory Program and also volunteered with the University of Illinois chapter of MTNA.  She has been their Recital Hall Reservation Coordinator as well as Recital Program Coordinator and served as their Vice President and Treasurer before graduating.
