Job Title: Optimization Program Analyst

Location: Lake Forest, IL

Hours: Monday- Friday, Full time 40 hours.

Pay: $35-40 per hour

Duration: Temp to hire

Objective:

Effectively optimize website by translating data into actionable insights and conducting experiments to implement those insights to drive business results. Strong understanding of Statistical Knowledge partnered with Web Analytics.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Use analytics (online and offline) to develop actionable insights
Translate business questions into effectively designed tests and experiments (e.g. A/B, multivariate tests) for different campaigns and programs.
Monitor tests for sample estimation, perform deep dive analysis on test results and make recommendations
Collaborate within the merchandizing team on improving product categories, internal search, product recommendations through a/b testing
Collaborate with internal teams on company initiatives to do experiments
Collaborate with Optimization program project manager to successfully execute ab tests
Develop documentation for experiments and maintain internal repository e.g. develop test plans and lead test plan walkthrough with team
Collaborate with external vendors on tests where necessary

Requirements

Master’s degree in a quantitative field is required (Statistics or Mathematics)
Applied data mining/statistics experience
Knowledge of and experience in the design and analysis of experiments, estimating power and sample size requirements, estimating effect size
Experience using statistical analysis tools (SAS, SPSS, R)
Experience with SQL in large database environments
Experience with web analytics tools (e.g. Coremetrics, Omniture) and online testing platforms (e.g.. Test & Target) is a plus
Superior analytical and problem solving skills
Knowledge of HTML/ Javascript a plus
Ability to communicate effectively in a manner that is clear, logical and consistent
Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

The Healthcare Statistician will provide advanced analytic support and consulting services to decision makers throughout the company. The analysis undertaken most commonly utilizes advanced predictive modeling techniques similar to those employed in analytical sciences such as statistics, economics, and operations research. The models developed are used to drive decisions relating to risk management, customer experience improvement, business performance evaluation, and operational efficiencies. We will look to you to:

  • Develop and implement advanced modeling methodologies to foster company wide business decision-making.
  • Collaborate in and provide consulting services to business partners, actuaries, analysts, and programmers to develop study designs, analysis reports, and modeling tools.
  • Collaborate in or manage multiple projects and communicate project results/status to customers.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • SAS expertise or extensive ability to apply at least one other advanced data management and analysis software package such as SPSS, e-Views, S or R in addition to expertise in a programming language such as C++, .Net, SQL, or Java.
  • Two to three years experience in performing modeling and data analysis including processing and analyzing large data files. It is desirable for the candidate to have experience with large health insurance data files. Extensive experience with large data sets requiring multiple variable reduction techniques preferred.
  • Ability to complete risk studies on claims, lapse, and/or benefit reduction data through the application of statistical modeling or data mining techniques.
  • Ability to understand business problems and carry out project plans.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative ability to conduct required research and understand statistical models, optimization concepts, and hypothesis testing development. It is necessary to have specific abilities with respect to regression models, survival analysis, time series, statistical computation, or numerical analysis.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills to effectively communicate technical information to all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to collect, organize and process complex data and information from multiple sources, verify its accuracy, and effectively develop alternatives and logical relationships.
  • Thorough knowledge of quantitative methods, statistical models, and optimization concepts and the ability to apply them to business situations.
  • Knowledge of data base management systems such as Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or Microsoft Access.

Desired Skills/Experience

  • A strong preference will be given to candidates whom have attained a Masters or PhD in Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.
