The Paradox on Global NPP Pattern

Global pattern of Net Primary Production (NPP) has long been considered as a gradient from pole region towards tropics, which means the highest contribution of global terrestrial production is from tropical forest. This paper showed the evidences, both data and conclusions, the authored collected from hundreds of papers published to overturn this dogma. The actual global distribution of NPP is a gradient from both tropics and pole toward temperate area. Potential ability on carbon sequestration by temperate ecosystem has been underestimated by most researchers.
