Minority Enrichment Program at Urbana High School needs tutors!

We have a big need for tutors in our Minority Enrichment Program at UHS.  Brigitte has done a great job of getting our UHS students to come in for lunch hour tutoring but she doesn’t have any help during 4th hour. Fourth hour is from 10:42-11:36 M,T,TH,F and 10:15-11:09 on W.  The MEP Program was started to provide extra support for minority students in upper level classes. This focus continues although any student may come in for tutoring help.  Currently, there are quite a few students who are looking for tutoring during their fourth hour lunch but no tutors available. Help in math is the greatest need.

Student tutoring volunteer needed

After school volunteer opportunity:  A high school teacher is looking for a volunteer who would join her once or twice a week tutoring a student at home.  When a student cannot physically make it to school for health reasons, they get assigned a homebound teacher.  We are looking for someone who could help them with Algebra homework.  Transportation is available from the supervising teacher if needed.

Interested?  Contact Laura Koterba-Buss at koterbla@champaignschools.org or 217-898-6807

TAP-In Tutoring Opportunity

Tap In Leadership Academy is an after school academic tutoring and academic enrichment program for youth in Champaign.  We operate programs at Edison Middle School, Centennial High School, and have a program at McKinley Foundation on campus.  We are looking for pre-service teachers who are interested in working in a positive environment with a diverse 6-12th grade student population.  Tutors will be specifically trained by a Nationally Board Certified Teacher on tutoring techniques and on how to work with a racially diverse student population.  We serve students from 3-6 daily, Monday – Thursdays and are looking for volunteers who can tutor on a weekly basis for 1 to 3 hours at a time.  Please contact us via our website at tapinacademy.org.  You can submit your name as a volunteer tutor on the involvement page that you can easily navigate to via the “involvement” tab  at the top of the web page.  We will send you an application after we receive the information requested on this on-line form.
