Golden Apple Scholarship – for interested Sophomores

Dear Future Teachers,

The Golden Apple Pathway Scholars program is open to a limited number of college sophomores.  The program provides assistance to the Scholars through their college and early teaching years by providing experience in the classroom, financial assistance and mentoring.  The Scholars program receives funding from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.

Candidates for the Pathway program must meet the following criteria in order to be eligible to apply for the program:

 

*          Be legally present in the United States and a resident of Illinois

*          Passed the Basic Skills/TAP test prior to January 2013

*          Be under the age of 21 in August 2013

*          Have a minimum 2.5/4.0 GPA

*          Have completed the FASFA form

*          Be recognized by one of our partner institutions as junior with 60 hours by June 2013 and applied for a program leading to teacher certification

*          Graduated from an Illinois high school in 2011

In return for fulfilling these responsibilities, the Pathway Scholars will receive $5000 for their junior year and $5000 for their senior year, paid directly to the institution they attend.

Pathway Scholars also attend two Sumer Institutes designed to facilitate their success teaching deserving children in challenging school settings.  Pathway Scholars receive a stipend of $2000 per Summer Institute for their participation in these Institutes.

The total financial package is up to $14,000.00.
