If I already have works listed in my ORCID record, will Illinois Experts create duplicates?

If you have previously added works to your ORCID record, it is possible that a trusted organization (such as Illinois Experts) may create a duplicate entry. When duplicates occur:

  • If the duplicate works share a common identifier (e.g., DOI), ORCID will automatically group the works together as a single entry. The researcher has the option to select which version is displayed.
  • If the duplicate works have no identifiers in common, the researcher will need to review and group the works together as a single entry, if applicable.

In order to reduce the likelihood of duplicates, works should be written into the Experts profile or ORCID record from a trusted organization using ORCID’s link wizards or Experts’ online import sources. Manually keying in a work should be avoided where possible.
