Time for Accidents

How much time would you give up to avoid accidents?  We looked at Manhattan and combined:

  • Historical accident data
  • Estimates of travel speeds on roads
  • Taxi data telling us where people are going.

We tried to optimally route typical trips to minimize trip duration and exposure to accidents to understand the tradeoff between accidents and trip time.
