DA Corn Program Holds 1st Quarter Assessment

The Philippines’ Department of Agriculture recently conducted an evaluation of its AgriPinoy corn program. Its initial year focused mainly on cost-reducing technologies and new systems adapting to issues brought by climate change and catastrophes. The Agricultural Guarantee Fund Pool and Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation also will provide post-harvest facilities and processing machines to farmers. The program’s objective is to achieve self-sufficiency by 2013. The program has already established 51 village-type post-harvest facilities, with 30 more currently under construction.
