Getting from the airport to downtown/conference hotel:
To arrange for the Hyatt Place shuttle to collect you from the airport, please call 217-531-2800.
There is no public transportation available at the Champaign airport. The estimated cost of a taxi from Willard Airport to downtown Champaign (the location of the Hyatt Place hotel) is $18. Uber is new to Champaign-Urbana, but is becoming more readily available. The estimated cost of an Uber is between $10-14.
Rental car companies are located within the airport terminal with cars available onsite. The Hyatt Place hotel has a parking garage with a daily rate.
Getting from the hotel to the conference:
The conference hotel is located at 217 N Neil Street, Champaign. The two conference venues (School of Music and Smith Memorial Hall) are located near the corner of Goodwin and W Nevada, Urbana.
Driving/Parking
The Hyatt Place shuttle will provide morning and evening transportation in accordance with the conference schedule. Please check with hotel staff regarding the daily schedule.
Zip cars are available for rental on W Hill Street or at the Amtrak Station.
All parking on campus is metered. On Saturday and Sunday, parking inside the Krannert Performing Arts Center garage is free (park in any spot). If you would like to park on campus on Monday, please either bring $13 in quarters or email cronenb2@illinois.edu to request a single day pass. Single day passes are $13, payable at registration and must be requested by May 14.
Public Bus System
All bus rides in Champaign-Urbana cost $1. The bus system in Champaign-Urbana differs based on the day of the week (see below for more details). For all of the instructions below, you will get off the bus at the corner of Goodwin and Nevada (NW). When you arrive at this stop, the UIUC Music Building will be across the street to the east. Smith Memorial Hall is a block west on W Nevada Street. For more information, visit www.cumtd.com.
Saturday Bus
Walk one block east on E Main Street to the corner of E Main and N Freemont (South side). Take the 20U Red Saturday bus to the corner of Goodwin and Nevada (NW). To find out when the next bus will arrive at this stop, text the phrase “mtd3452” to 35890. This trip takes approx. 10 minutes.
You can also take the 120E Teal Weekend bus from the Illinois Terminal, Platform C located adjacent to the Amtrak Station at S Market and E University. To find out when the next bus will arrive at this stop, text the phrase “mtd4217” to 35890.
Sunday Bus
On Sunday, walk to the Illinois Terminal, Platform C located adjacent to the Amtrak Station at S Market and E University. Take the 120E Teal Weekend bus to the corner of Goodwin and Nevada (NW). To find out when the next bus will arrive at this stop, text the phrase “mtd4217” to 35890. This trip takes approx. 10 minutes.
Please note: this route does not begin until 9:15 AM on Sunday. If you are attending the first paper session, you will need an alternative form of transportation.
Taxis are readily available at the Amtrak Station. Champaign is NOT the kind of town in which you can easily flag down a taxi on the street. You will either need to call in advance for a taxi or walk to the Amtrak Station.
Monday Bus
There is a bus stop at the NW corner of W Church and N Neil, just outside the hotel. At this stop, you will take the 2U Red bus and get off at the corner of Goodwin and Nevada (NW corner).
