Preface

Hello Writers!

This site is dedicated towards RHET 105 students and writing enthusiasts! I feel I have grown exponentially as a writer since the beginning of this semester. As a final project for my RHET 105 class, I have created this site to properly document my growth. This website will have multiple revisions of my past assignments. I made sure to include the unrevised drafts also. If you are interested in the thought process behind my revisions, I have provided a “Reflections” tab. Along with the revisions and reflections, I have included my blogs and a metaphor tab to help you further understand the thought process behind my writing. I appreciate all comments regardless of criticism. Your opinions and suggestions are valued and will be treated with great respect. If writers cannot take simple criticism, they can not improve.

Before I review the comments made by professor Hays, I considered the contents of the assignments that I completed.  Foreign to college level rhetoric classes, I initially believed that I only had to improve my grammar to improve my writing. This former naive self was quickly introduced to a transcending experience. To improve your writing, you have to address your repertoire of rhetorical skills. Through my weekly assignments, I learned how to properly analyze any object using the Toulmin analysis. I learned how to create a movie review for a documentary. I learned how to correctly cite my references. Writers are not skilled because of their grammar; writers are skilled because of their versatility and the knowledge of how to apply the skills they acquired. I have improved greatly under such qualifications.

Thank You for Your Interest,

Matthew Cheung
