UIC MEd in Science Education and Teaching License

The University of Illinois at Chicago MEd in Science Education and teaching license can be earned in an intensive 12 month schedule. The program has a unique focus on learning to teach science in urban contexts with a focus on community responsive and culturally relevant curriculum and instruction. The coursework is supplemented by community partnerships through Science Education for Excellence and Equity in Chicago (Project SEEEC).

Project SEEEC is funded by an NSF Noyce grant that provides full tuition waivers, stipends, and additional professional support to outstanding students who make a commitment to teach in Chicago Public Schools. Project SEEEC also seeks to address the underrepresentation of African American and Latina/o science teachers and prioritizes educating new chemistry and physics teachers.
