LAS Success Workshops for the week of February 1st:

CAREER DEVELOPMENT: How to Sell Your LAS Degree at the Business Career Fair and Engineering Career Fair (Monday, February 1: 4-5 p.m., 1002 Lincoln Hall)

Did you know that the Business Career Fair (February 3 & 4 at ARC) and the Engineering Career Fair (February 9 & 10 at the Illini Union) are open to students in the College of LAS? Did you know these career fairs are promoting internships for underclassmen as well as jobs for graduating seniors? This workshop will help LAS students better understand how they can prepare to get the most out of the Business Career Fair and the Engineering Career Fair. LAS students looking for an internship, full time job, or just wanting to better understand how a fair can be used as a career exploration tool are invited to attend. Physics: So You’d Like to Pass Your First Physics Exam… (Thursday, February 4: 3-3:50 p.m.,1065 Lincoln Hall)

This presentation will introduce you to ideas and best practices to help you prepare for your upcoming physics exam.  The primary questions asked and answered will include: Why study physics? How should you manage your time? What tools are available during the exam? How do exam questions differ from other problems we work in our physics courses? This session is ideal for students taking their first Physics courses at the university or for those who are taking PHYS 102 this semester after having difficulties in PHYS 10. (Elaine Schulte)

CAREER SUCCESS: Resumes and LinkedIN for Scientists (Thursday, February 4: 5:30-6:30 p.m., 165 Noyes)

Science majors and minors in the College of LAS are invited to attend a workshop about how to best highlight on your resume and LinkedIn profile your research experience, relevant coursework, technical skills, publications, and skills desired by employers so you’re ready for the spring semester career fairs. Pizza will be provided.
