December 2024

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Thanksgiving break. Whether you traveled, spent time with loved ones, or simply took a moment for yourself, I hope it recharged you for the weeks ahead. I was able to get to visit with my husband’s extended family in Texas, a real treat and a visit that helped me recenter a bit.

As we jump back into our work, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the fun memories from our big anniversary celebration a few weeks ago. Thank you to everyone—whether you exhibited, accommodated by adjusting services or staffing that day for our patrons, or contributed in any way to making it a success—I am grateful! You can find photos and highlights on this special celebration page.

With only a few weeks until the end of the semester, I know things can feel especially hectic. As we prepare our spaces and services to support students during finals, I encourage you to check in with yourselves and one another. Supporting our students starts with taking care of ourselves. Amid the busy season, don’t forget to prioritize your well-being. Remember that resources are available, including well-being programs and access to Faculty/Staff Assistance and Well-Being Services (FSAWS). On a personal note, I’m looking forward to De-Stress Fest coming up on December 12—and, yes, both mini therapy horses and wildlife ambassadors!

Thank you for all that you do to make our library a welcoming and supportive space. Your hard work and dedication make such a difference. Let’s finish the semester strong, together, and enjoy a well-deserved longer intersession. And don’t forget our Annual Recognition Event on Tuesday, January 7. Whether you are with us in person at the iHotel or taking advantage of the hybrid approach to join on Zoom, I look forward to seeing you.
