Awards and recognitions of University Library faculty and staff

The University of Illinois Library strives for excellence, and this excellence is exemplified by our faculty, staff, and in the services that they provide.  Recognition of their dedication took many forms in 2011-12.  Many of the University Library faculty were elected to leadership positions, received awards and honors from associations and colleagues, or were invited lecturers.  Here is a brief listing of some of these accomplishments. Kaufman named 2012 ACRL Academic/Research Librarian of the Year

Simpson Dean of Libraries and universitylibrarian and professor of library administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, is the 2012 Association of College and Research Libraries’ (ACRL) Academic/Research Librarian of the Year. The award, sponsored by YBP Library Services, recognizes an outstanding member of the library profession who has made a significant national or international contribution to academic/research librarianship and library development.

Kaufman will receive a $5,000 award at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2012, during the joint ACRL/ALCTS President’s Program at the ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim. Continue reading
