Clara M. Chu, Director and Mortenson Distinguished Professor at the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs in the University of Illinois Library, has been appointed to a two year term as the ALA representative to the U.S. National Commission for UNESCO.
Steve Witt, Head of the International and Area Studies Library and Associate Professor at the University Library, and Director for Global Studies at the University of Illinois, has been named the recipient of the American Library Association’s Library History Round Table’s Donald G. Davis Award. The award recognizes Witt’s article, “Agents of Change: The Rise of International Librarianship and the Age of Globalization” from the journal Library Trends.
Elise Dunham, Data Curation Specialist at the University of Illinois Library’s Research Data Service, has been awarded an RDA/US Data Share Fellowship by the Research Data Alliance (RDA). This May, Dunham will begin developing her proposed project to develop an organization-wide curation strategy for the RDA.
Librarians at Illinois lead their fields of research, and Spring 2016 saw them publishing across a wide range of venues and topics. From new frontiers in reference services and digital humanities to the histories of patents, sport, and women’s movements, library faculty and academic professionals contributed new knowledge to their fields.
