Peg Burnette to Serve as Project Coordinator for CARLI Illinois SCOER Grant Award

Peg Burnette, Associate Professor and Biomedicine Librarian, will serve as Project Manager for a grant awarded by CARLI Illinois Support for Creation of Open Education Resources (SCOER) initiative to a group of educators from the University Library, Carle Illinois College of Medicine, and Knox College in Galesburg. This team of educators will create an open education resource (OER) with a primary focus on women’s reproductive health.

JJ Pionke Named President-Elect of Midwest Medical Library Association

JJ Pionke, Applied Health Sciences Librarian for the Social Sciences, Health, and Education Library (SSHEL) and Assistant Professor, has been named President-Elect of the Midwest Chapter of the Medical Library Association. Pionke was elected by members of the association and will take his position at the end of the October 2022 Annual Business Meeting.

Bruce R. Schatz Publishes New Study in PLOS Digital Health

Professor Bruce R. Schatz has been published in the PLOS Digital Health, a new open access journal emphasizing health equity and unbiased healthcare. This article, “Population Analysis of Mortality Risk: Predictive Models from Passive Monitors Using Motion Sensors for 100,000 UK Biobank Participants,” is a culmination of four years of medical informatics research by Schatz and his colleagues.

Benson and Condill Named to Summer 2022 List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students

At the end of every semester students are given the opportunity to rate instruction through the Instructor and Course Evaluation System (ICES) questionnaire forms. These forms are maintained by Measurement and Evaluation, Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning. Two University Library faculty were recognized on Summer 2022’s List of Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students and we wish to highlight these individuals for this accomplishment.
