Copyright Librarian, Sara Benson, of the Scholarly Communications and Publishing Unit at the University Library, was recently named Senior Policy Advisor for the American Library Association (ALA) Public Policy and Advocacy Fellow. Benson has also been named the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA) Representative to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR). 

Kirstin Johnson, Head of the Music and Performing Arts Library and University Library Professor, was one of 65 department heads and chairs from Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) universities to attend the Department Executive Officer Program.

This leadership development event focused on several topics including conflict resolution, group problem solving, and faculty development. 

Lisa Hinchliffe, University Library Professor and Coordinator for Research and Teaching Professional Development, has been appointed Chair of the Open Research and Contributor ID (ORCID) Board. ORCID is an international not-for-profit organization that facilitates transparent and reliable connections between researchers, their work, and their affiliations within digital frameworks. 

The Scholarly Communications and Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics (SCOAP³) has selected Mary Schlembach to serve as one of its four U.S. Representatives to the Governing Council. Schlembach is the Chemistry and Physical Sciences Librarian at the Chemistry Library.
