Charles Lynch heads Arizona MPS Harp Program

Charles Lynch has begun his first year as Harp Specialist of the Mesa Public Schools (MPS) Harp Program in Arizona. the very program he began study of the harp in when he was growing up in Arizona, succeeding the program’s founder Karen Miller. The MPS Harp Program begins its 42nd year with 117 harp students from band and orchestra programs at eight of the district’s junior high schools and six senior high schools.

HarpCore 4 makes 100-plus strings-go-pop

The HarpCore 4(HC4) were featured artists at the Midwest Harp Festival held in Tulsa, Oklahoma in July and were enthusiastically received. Formed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign while performance majors in the U of I harp studio, the group now of Julia Kay Jamieson, Charles Lynch, Claire Happel, and Erin Brooker-Miller perform original arrangements of pop and rock music for harps+ more (kazoos, Irish dancing, etc.).
