Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship 2026-2027

Each year Illinois Administrative Professionals (IAP), at the University of Illinois, offer the Kathryn G. Hansen Scholarship to students planning to pursue higher education in a business-related field. Kathryn G. Hansen was one of the founding members of the State Universities Civil Service System and IAP and, in her honor, IAP created this scholarship.


For the 2026-2027 academic year, one scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded. The scholarship is to be used for tuition, fees, books, or other related educational expenses. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:


• Enrolled full-time as a high school senior in the 2025-2026 academic year in Illinois, progressing normally toward graduation.
• Plans to enroll in a college/university no later than the fall following high school graduation.
• Strong commitment to pursuing higher education in a business-related field within the state of Illinois.
• Preference will be given to those attending the University of Illinois or enrolled in a Pathways to Illinois college program (Pathways to Illinois, Undergraduate Admissions, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign).
• Involvement in co-curricular and community activities.
• Academic achievement.
• Resident of Illinois.
• Citizen or permanent resident of the United States.

  1. Application form and brief essay (approximately 500 words) explaining future educational and career plans.
  2. Two letters of recommendation from non-relatives.
  3. High school transcript to include grade-point scale, average GPA, ACT and/or SAT score, and class rank. Note: An unofficial transcript is acceptable.
  4. If possible, please send all application materials together in one email.
