The Illini Union is celebrating its 75th anniversary! Since opening to the public on February 8, 1941, the Illini Union has been a resource to the entire campus community.

To this day, the Illini Union staff makes it a priority to offer a home rich in the university’s historical traditions. Attention to the preservation of the building has been a significant responsibility over the years, and the staff of the Illini Union works to provide guidance, support, and encouragement to all who utilize it. The Illini Union continues to thrive as a reflection of the vibrant student body.

We invite you to look through the pages of this site to see the rich historical timeline of the Illini Union. There are also a couple of large events planned during the 2016-2017 year to mark the anniversary. Finally, we will end the year-long celebration with an Alumni and Friends reception on Friday, February 17th.

Enjoy the Illini Union and its impact at the University of Illinois.
