The College of Veterinary Medicine is to provide teaching, research and public engagement programs that benefit the animals, people and environment of the State of Illinois, nation and world, through the promotion of animal health, alleviation of animal suffering, efficient and responsible animal production, conservation of animal and broader ecological resources, and protection of public health.
The Student AVMA coordinates student chapter functions, promotes the exchange of ideas and information among students, and represents its members in matters that concern them, both as students and as future veterinarians.
The Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA) predicts, monitors and confronts issues that affect the professional practice and licenses of Illinois veterinarians. More than 2000 ISVMA member veterinarians and 400 member veterinary students depend upon the representation and services provided by the ISVMA. Their participation ensures the continued strength of the veterinary profession in Illinois.
American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) is a not-for-profit association for veterinarians. AVMA represents more than 75,000 veterinarians who use their professional training in a variety of ways — from private practice to public health, agriculture, food safety, academia and the military.
The mission of IVSA is to to benefit the animals and people of the world by harnessing the potential and dedication of veterinary students to promote the international application of veterinary skills, education and knowledge. The way in which this is achieved is by arranging annual meetings (congresses and symposia), running permanent projects, facilitating exchanges and publishing a quarterly newsletter.
