Jose Julian Rivera-Perez

Jose’s research interests focus on asphalt concrete (AC) characterization, AC production evaluation and Digital Image Correlation. Jose worked in the team that developed the Illinois Flexibility Index Test that evaluates the cracking performance of AC. He used Digital Image Correlation to measure fracture mechanics parameters such as the Fracture Process Zone and the Stress Intensity Factor. Currently, Jose is working in a multi-probe assessment of data obtained from projects included in the Quality Control for Performance (QCP) and Pay-for Performance (PFP) programs to recommend proper methods for reducing result variability. In addition, Jose is the past president of the University of Illinois chapter of ASCE Transportation and Development Institute and former social media manager of the T&DI Highway Pavement Committee.
