    Biography

    I grew up in St. Paul, MN, where I lived the first 19 years of my life.  After finishing high school, I attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, where I received my B.A. in Physics and Mathematics.  Because of the experience I had during a summer internship with Nano-CEMMS at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, I decided to attend UIUC and study Mechanical Engineering.

    Projects

    • Developing a second generation prototype of a 5-gear, automatic gear-shifting manual wheelchair
    • Determining if geared manual wheelchairs reduce shoulder torque in manual wheelchair users

    Research Interests

    • Mechatronic design
    • Medical device design
    • Musculoskeletal biomechanics

    Personal Interests

    I love watching sports, particularly football, baseball and la crosse.  I also enjoy playing video games, drums and handbells.
