The Health Care Engineering Systems Center (HCESC) at the College of Engineering of the University of Illinois provides clinical immersion to engineers and fosters collaborations between engineers and physicians. We use our expertise in the broad areas of Health Information Technologies, Sensing and Devices, Materials and Mechanics, and Human Factors/Industrial Ergonomics and Design to develop collaborative projects which could be used for simulation in training of medical practitioners of tomorrow.

About Jump ARCHES

University of Illinois has partnered with OSF HealthCare on the initiative known as Jump Applied Research for Community Health through Engineering and Simulation (Jump ARCHES). The aim is to develop new technologies and cyber-physical systems, enhance medical training and practice, and in collaboration with key partners, drive the training of health professionals.

The goal is to combine ILLINOIS’ expertise in the broad areas of health information technologies, sensing devices, materials and mechanics, and human factors/industrial ergonomics and design (and other areas to be identified in the future) with OSF’s clinical experience and knowledge in the area of simulation education toward executing collaborative projects directed to simulation in training of medical practitioners.

Jump ARCHES provides grants to clinicians and engineers working together to develop new technologies and services that will improve healthcare quality and patient care.
