Short-Term Research Project
I’m seeking a reliable student research assistant who is well-organized, methodical, efficient, able to work independently and to consistently meet deadlines. The student will help develop lists of prominent works of literary fiction, poetry, philosophy, and critical theory, and an extensive list of works in classical music, and will then develop a precise budget (with documentation) for the purchase of books and CDs (yes, CDs) based on those lists. Familiarity with at least a couple of the fields is expected. Some knowledge of Excel would be helpful but is not required. The project should be completed by Monday, October 5, 2015. Rate of pay is $10 per hour for approximately 15 hours.
Students interested in the project may send a message to me at this email address: firstname.lastname@example.org, including their name and contact information (email and phone); student status (undergraduate year); two or three-sentence descriptions of a couple of research projects they have completed for college courses demonstrating their research methods and skills; and any explanation they might wish to provide regarding their degree of familiarity with classical music, literary fiction, poetry, philosophy, and critical theory. I will ask for a reference if the student and I decide we might want to collaborate.
This is a personal project and is unrelated to my responsibilities at Skidmore College. If this project goes well and the student is interested in additional work, I may have more intellectually stimulating research opportunities available in October and November.
