Gigantic Traveler

This huge boulder is a glacial erratic – a rock that does not match the local bedrock because it was carried south from Canada and deposited when the Ice Age glaciers melted. It was unearthed from a building site in Davenport, IA, in 1991. Note the car on the right for an idea of scale.
