Areas of Focus

As the DILP team helps to deliver digital literacy programs throughout the state, we focus on three learning areas: digital fabrication/manufacturing, digital media production, and data analytics.

Digital Fabrication / Manufacturing

Digital Fabrication / Manufacturing

Using an integrated computer system organized to effectively design and create products, through the use of technologies such as 3D printers, laser cutters, etc.

Digital Media Production

Digital Media Production

Using computer technologies to create digital media, including but not limited to video, music, or games.

Data Analytics

Data Analytics

Understanding and learning how to leverage the data collected through industry, scholarship, government, and everyday life.

These three learning areas are supported through a number of outreach and engagement efforts. Central to DILP’s approach is the use of mobile media/maker spaces, which are mobile stations  with equipment and supplies which staff can take to different locations to teach activities and curriculum around the three learning areas. DILP works with local government and community stakeholder organizations to share information about, and training on, the application of digital fabrication/manufacturing, digital media production, and data analytics to local community needs. DILP staff and partners also support skill and knowledge development around best practices, pedagogy, assessment, and evaluation for digital inclusion.
