Prerequisites

CS 498 AL1 (Law 797): Introduction to Digital Forensics (Digital Forensics I) requires students to have a basic knowledge of computer science concepts, including operating systems (CS 241 or equivalent) and networking (CS 438 or equivalent). Students majoring in non-technical fields must complete the online Self-Assessment (follow the link below) to assess whether they have the necessary background to take this course.

Self-Assessment for Non-CS/CE Students

The online Self-Assessment is designed to help students who are not Computer Science or Computer Engineering majors determine whether they have the general background knowledge required to succeed in this course.  The Self-Assessment will take less than 15 minutes.  If you have any questions regarding the Self-Assessment or your ability to succeed in this course, please contact us at iti-digitalforensics@list.illinois.edu.
