109 tmcDavid J. Roaché (M.A., 2013) is a doctoral student in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His research interests lie at the intersection of interpersonal and computer-mediated communication, with an emphasis on how close relationship partners navigate difficult relational topics using communication technologies and face-to-face communication. David currently holds teaching and research assistant appointments at the University of Illinois. He currently is teaching Personal Relationships and Technology, an upper-level undergraduate course that focuses on the influence of communication technologies on how individuals initiate, maintain, and dissolve contemporary relationships. As a research assistant, David is currently working with Professor Cabral Bigman-Galimore on a content analysis of racial health disparities in major U.S. newspapers and social media (e.g., Twitter). David also works as a consultant in the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Learning (CITL), where he specializes in questionnaire design. While there, he played an important role in designing, implementing, and analyzing data about undergraduate students’ perceptions of faculty, graduate students, and staff in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.
