Becoming an Officer

If you are interested in becoming an officer of the Dancing Illini, please contact us at dancing@illinois.edu. In general, the officers are elected for a period of one year each spring. If you want to help out, we often have openings. The available positions are listed below. There are several benefits for becoming an officer of the Dancing Illini:

1. 1. Take classes for free
   2. Get a chance to learn to organize classes and possibly instruct classes
   3. Get to know other dance groups and communities in and around Urbana-Champaign
   4. Get a free Dancing Illini polo shirt
   5. Meet new people and make some lasting friendships.

This year’s first social dance will be on March 7 at the Channing Murray Foundation. Admission is FREE, food and drinks (nonalcoholic) will be served, donations are welcomed, and it will be on campus. There will also be a free 30-minute free swing class starting at 8:00 and the dance will start at 8:30. Feel free to invite your friends, the more the merrier. Don’t forget to wear green!

It’s 2015 everyone! Time for the Spring 2015 Open House Dance!

Not sure if you want to take a dance course? This is a FREE way to find out (and you can have some lovely FREE food and beverages while you try it out).

Why? Because you’re worth it

Will there be free admission, food, and drinks? Of course. That’s how we roll.

Courses meet at the Illini Union Ballroom (second floor), on Green between Wright and Matthews in Urbana. There is no need to pre-register. No partner required. A $45 membership (or $50 membership if non-UIUC or $35 for returning students) includes any and all 11-week courses. Bring a friend and get $5 off each. Please be prepared to pay (cash, check, or credit cards) at the start of the first class (February 8 or 12) or at our Open House Dance. 

Courses begin February 8, 2015 and run for 11 weeks. We will not meet during the week of Spring Break (March 21-March 30).
